    USVTA or ROAR VTA

It's time to start thinking about which rules we are going to follow. USVTA only allows 25.5T brushless with a 2S Lipo (7.4v), Roar allows several motor/esc combos. I personally woudl prefer USVTA eventually, only because it would be easier to enforce the rules. What are your thoughts?

Don't forget that USVTA also only allows a single brand motors (Novak), which can be difficult to get at times. There are other manufacturers who make 25.5 motors (Viper, Epic/Trinity, etc..), but they won't allow them in USVTA. Just about every manufacturer makes a 21.5, however. Speed Passion even has their Cirtix motor/ESC combos for less than $100. It's a locked timing, non-adjustable esc with a 21.5 motor. That would be a cheap way for newcomers to get into VTA if you go the ROAR VTA route. The only downside to the cirtix combo is that they're so popular that they're nearly impossible to get at times.. just like the Novak motors.

FYI- the car that TQ'ed/won this past weekend was running an old Trinity Co27 stock motor (5.6fdr) with a 4-cell 4600mah nimh pack that's probably 4 years old. Latest and greatest doesn't really matter in that class. As long as the rule-specified gear ratios are maintained, most of the motor/battery combinations in the ROAR rulebook are pretty even.

I've just about got everything I need to run in both. A GTB and 25.5, so either is fine with me. It sounds like ROAR is better to help grow the local class. If the rules are enforced, we should all still be equal. Let's Race!

My vote is to go with ROAR for right now with a bias towards USVTA. In other words allow the ROAR approved equipment with conforming gear ratios. Eventually moving to USVTA as the class grows. But, no decison yet. My recommendation for anyone buying NEW equipment is to strongly consider USVTA rules.

The plan right now is to allow the various motors and use gearing to keep them equal. Probably sometime after Christmas we will require 25.5T for USVTA. But as stated before it is not set in stone.

Yeah, the VTA crowd has been BEGGING HPI to make some. Every time somebody gets them, they are sold out in a matter of hours.
